Is Fear holding you back?

A lot of things have changed for a lot of people over these last two years, and after watching how the world around me has evolved, I have seen that people coped in one of two ways.

  1. They went deeper inside of themselves. They allowed the fear and uncertainty of the world around them to be the reason that they stayed safe in their comfort zone and just maintained the status quo.

  2. They stepped out, took chances, followed their dreams, and did the things that they had been wanting to do, even though they had a million excuses not to.

So let me ask you. Which one are you? Are you allowing your fears to keep you stuck in the life you don't want, or are you out there in the world, doing the hard things because you know it takes doing those things to live your dreams?

I can honestly say that for part of this chaos I was living as number one. I was allowing myself, a person who needs to feel in control of the world around me because of my past trauma, to use the fear as an excuse to not continue chasing my dreams.

Somewhere though, in the middle of it all, I heard that little voice inside that I had once listened to which saved my life, speaking to me once more. As I got quiet, which is what can be the difficult part for most of us, I heard it say "If not now, when? If not you, who?" It was at that moment that I realized that the pandemic was just another convenient excuse that had come along at the perfect time to be the crutch that I needed to stay stuck because remember "if nobody moves, nobody gets hurt."

So many years of my life I had allowed pandemics of my mind to hold me back, but no more.

So I decided that I wasn't going to stop chasing my dreams even in the middle of a pandemic so the planning got underway. How do you plan a workshop in the midst of a pandemic? It was easy, I watched to see what others were doing. Sometimes we believe that we need to re-invent the wheel when in actuality the best way to be successful is to follow the footsteps of someone who has crossed that minefield before you.

I also had to let go of the attachments I had about what the event was going to be. Was I going to double the attendance this year like I had set as a goal last year, if I was being honest with myself, probably not? What I had to do was get back to the roots of why I started planning the workshop in the first place.

Was I going to have an impact on another woman's life? Was I going to provide another woman with the opportunity to grow, to step outside of the pain and trauma that she had been living with, and rise into the life that she deserves? Was I going to provide women with the opportunities to see other women just like themselves who had let go of all of their excuses and went after the life they wanted? Absolutely I was!

So, this year's Ignite Your Life Workshop is going to be different. That's ok. The excitement and feedback that I am receiving from upcoming attendees on this year's lineup of speakers has been amazing, and it is in those moments that I realize that had it not been for the pandemic, I would not have been able to have this incredible line up of Women from across both Canada and the United States. So instead of looking at all the negatives that can be found in the situation, I choose to focus on the positive.

This amazing group of women that are coming in to speak for this event have written books, they have poured their lives out onto the pages to both heal and inspire, they have created online platforms that support thousands of other women, they have created 6 figure incomes helping other women live their best lives, they have healed their bodies and they want nothing more than to see you do the same.

Everyone of these women believes that a rising tide lifts all boats, and it is that Mantra that has inspired me to create the Rise & Shine Bursary which is a bursary for young women graduating high school who have overcome trauma and struggles in their lives and are Rising Up to create the life they deserve. So all of the profit from this years workshop will go into that Bursary.

So let me ask you this one final question. What are you choosing to focus on? Who's watching you settle for less than you deserve? Are you ready to put all the what ifs, the buts, and the I can'ts behind you? Are you ready to be more at home in your body? Are you ready to reclaim the life that you let time, and fear strip away from you? Are you ready to get up in the morning, look in the mirror, and like the person you see because you know that person is out there chasing her dreams instead of letting another year pass her by?

I know I'm ready, and I hope you will join me at this years Ignite Your Life Workshop where we can learn, grow and stretch out of that comfort zone that we have been living in, and become the women we are meant to be.
